If you ever have watched golf on television and they show the player’s swing in slow motion you will notice his impact position much like the picture demonstrated below. This component to the golf swing is called lag, it is what creates massive power and consistent results both from a distance standpoint as well as an accurate way. In order to create lag, a good drill to feel this would be to place a tee into the butt of the grip and to pretend that when you start your downswing, you want to feel as if you are going to hit the ball with the tee. In other words, this drill is referred to as the pump drill.
