I find it funny whoever first thought of celebrating someone’s birthday, but whoever did is a good person! One of my good friends turned 20, and we all went to La Huerta to celebrate it. I found it ironic that he is from Mexico, and he wanted to go eat out at a Mexican restaurant. It is fun to see people having friends to help them celebrate. Everyone deserves to have a fun crowd of people to help them celebrate a good event or milestone in someone’s life. Birthdays would not be fun if you had no one to share them with.
What everyone needs to learn how to do well is interviewing. It does not matter what degree you have, your gpa, etc. everyone will have to go through this stage if you want to land a good career job. I at first was not the best at this, but I have now gotten interviewed three different times for summer jobs or internships, and I have done well in getting them. It is rough to answer questions when you are put on the spot, but you have to stay calm and answer them in a way that makes you look like you can be an asset to the company and not a liability.
For my major, I am a double with my primary being in speech communication and my secondary is public relations: journalism. I enjoy my major, and it fits what I want to do with my life in working with people either in sales or marketing careers. One of the best classes I have had in college is organizational communication. It is really neat to study the impacts and influences organizations have on people and cultures. Organizations are everywhere and will always be there. Plus, learning how to communicate toward management and how they communicate to employees can help all organizations succeed better.
On Saturday, I did my first ever race 5k, and it was a fun thing for me to do. I love to run and although I cannot do it as much as I would like to due to my knee, I was very proud that I finished. There were a good amount of people and in my age group I ended up placing second, so that was something to be proud of! More importantly, this race was to raise money in a fun sense for Make-A-Wish, and I was proud to see a lot of people attending and being apart of it to help out others.
The other day when I went to Tropical Smoothie, it occurred to me just how much I like this place. It ranks right up there with chick-fil-a as one of my favorite fast food venues to go to. I always tend to gravitate toward the peanut butter paradise smoothie with the added choice of whey protein with it along with a chicken caesar salad. It makes for a filling lunch for sure and it is a lot to consume. If I am in a hurry, I will eat this after I workout in order to fully give my body the right supply of nutrients and calories needed.
I also recently went out to Mount Nebo at sunset to see what it was like. This was actually my first trip to Mount Nebo since I have been at Arkansas Tech. I know this is late since I am already a junior, but I guess it is better late than never that I finally got to see it. I would want to climb it someday or something along those lines, rather than just driving up to the site. From Little Rock, my friends and I would climb Pinnacle Mountain often and actually feel a sense of accomplishment from climbing up to the top. Although I am not very good at climbing and hiking, it is fun to do something venturous outside.
