The term shank is a word that a golfer never ever wants to hear or recollect the feeling of what it was like to actually hit one. From the picture demonstrated below, a shank is where instead of actually hitting it with the square of the club where the grooves are, you lead and hit the ball with the hosel which results in a ball that goes straight left if you are a right handed golfer. There are many drills to help fix this, but you can say goodbye to your confidence level whenever you actually hit a shank in golf.
